Federal and State Programs

  • Disseminate the state, LEA, and campus-level report cards to 1) all LEA campuses, 2) parents of all enrolled students, and 3) the general public via widely available means by March 11, 2026
  • Complete ESSA application amendment to budget final allocation and carryover amounts. This should be completed as soon as possible to ensure timely access to funds.
  • Complete the second Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) meeting at both the district and campus levels, and begin planning for upcoming DIP/CIP review and revision meetings (minimum of two meetings required) 
  • Initiate outreach to Private Nonprofit Schools (PNPs) for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Begin gathering data for the required annual evaluation of the Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) Program at both the district and campus levels.
  • For districts with Title I, Part D, Subpart 2 funds, ensure ongoing consultation with the facility.
  • For districts eligible and planning to apply for the SRSA grant, the application will be emailed to the Superintendent.
 
Finance

  • Review student attendance figures as compared to prior year and budget projections 
  • Continue budget process including proposed staff compensation package 
  • SHARS Cost Control Report due April 1st - submit thru STAIRS (State of Texas Automated Information Reporting System)
  • Deadline to file petitions protesting the Comptroller’s Preliminary PVS findings - 40 days after release of Comptroller’s Finding
  • Recapture payment due for district’s subject to recapture that selected the monthly payment option (7 installments)
  • Update SOF Template w/ current ADA, Preliminary 2022 CPTD Values (T Values), and recently released State Comp Ed Counts by Census Block – compare results to original revenue projections and make budget adjustments as needed
  • Review spending by special program using allotments from updated SOF to ensure minimum spending requirements are being met
  • Chapter 49 districts - Deadline for Chapter 49 districts to submit revised CAD costs for prior school year or forfeit the CAD cost reduction for the prior school year. For districts selecting the monthly payment option, the second payment for current year is due from districts with excess local revenue to the state (Option 3) and/or to the partner district(s) for districts exercising Option 4

  • USAC opens the FCC Form 471 filing window on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. See deadlines below. Remember that, in general, these deadlines cannot be changed, and missing one may result in your request being unfunded for the year.
    • FCC Form 470 (Requesting bids on new products or services). Wednesday, March 4, 2026, is the last date that you can submit and certify an FY2026 FCC Form 470 and still wait the required minimum 28-day period before submitting and certifying your FY2026 FCC Form 471 by April 1, 2026, the last date of the FY2026 application filing window.
    • FCC Form 471 (Requesting funding for products and services to be completed yearly, even in a multi-year contract). The last date to file a 471 is Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. E.T.
