Overview  
The Region 7 Education Service Center (ESC) Internet Privacy Policy addresses how Region 7 ESC handles personal information collected and received from and through the Region 7 ESC Website, as well as Region 7 ESC's use of information collected about you through your use of the Region 7 ESC Website and Region 7 ESC social media pages. By using the Region 7 ESC website and social media pages, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. This Policy does not apply to the practice of entities or individuals that Region 7 ESC does not own, control, employ, or manage.   
 
Personal Information
Region 7 ESC does not collect any specific personal information about website participants—such as name, postal address, or email address—except when such information is knowingly and voluntarily provided to Region 7 ESC as part of a user account registration, inquiry, request, or order. Should you provide such information, you are giving Region 7 ESC permission to use that information to complete your inquiry, request, or order. Region 7 ESC does not sell personal information to outside parties. Region 7 ESC will not release email addresses that you provide to us to outside parties except as may be required by the Texas Public Information Act or as may be required by law to protect Region 7 ESC's legal rights. Personal information is obtained from online transactions such as professional development registrations, online purchases, email newsletters, online surveys, or employment or admissions applications. If Region 7 ESC is provided with such information, you are giving Region 7 ESC permission to use that information to respond to or process your request or provide you with additional services or opportunities. For monetary transactions, the financial aspect of the transaction is temporarily stored using strong encryption techniques until the transaction has been completed and is then purged according to standard PCI practices. You are not required to be a Region 7 ESC employee, vendor, or customer, or to provide personal information to access certain parts of the Region 7 ESC website. However, Region 7 ESC automatically collects and stores "non-personally identifiable" information, including the use of cookies, for statistical and contextual marketing purposes. This information helps Region 7 ESC monitor how visitors use the site. It also may provide information for targeted marketing in accordance with standard internet practices, such as Google AdWords. This information may include: your browser software (e.g., Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.), operating system (e.g., Windows or MacOS), name and domain of your Internet Service Provider, and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer being used, and your browsing history, unless your browser settings explicitly request that you not be tracked. Cookies are not used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. 
 
How do we use your information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you register, purchase products, respond to a survey or marketing communication, or use certain other site features in the following ways: To personalize your site experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested. To allow us to better service you in responding to your customer service requests. To quickly process your transactions. To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature. Photo & Video Disclaimer
Region 7 ESC reserves the right to use any photograph/video taken at any event sponsored by Region 7 ESC, without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph/video. Region 7 ESC may use the photograph/video in publications or other media material produced, used or contracted by Region 7 ESC including but not limited to: brochures, invitations, books, newspapers, magazines, television, websites, etc. To ensure the privacy of individuals and children, images will not be identified using full names or personal identifying information without written approval from the photographed subject, parent or legal guardian. A person attending a Region 7 ESC event who does not wish to have their image recorded for distribution should make their wishes known to the photographer, and/or the event organizers, and/or contact Region 7 ESC Communications Services at [email protected]. By participating in a Region 7 ESC event or by failing to notify Region 7 ESC, in writing, your desire to not have your photograph used by Region 7 ESC, you are agreeing to release, defend, hold harmless and indemnify Region 7 ESC from any and all claims involving the use of your picture or likeness. Any person or organization not affiliated with Region 7 ESC may not use, copy, alter, or modify Region 7 ESC photographs, graphics, videography, or other similar reproductions or recordings without the advance written permission of an authorized designee from Region 7 ESC. Region 7 ESC Website, https://www.esc7.net/, and all related sites are owned and operated by Region 7 ESC and contain material, which is derived in whole or in part from material supplied by Region 7 ESC and other sources, and is protected by international copyright and trademark laws. The content contained within the websites including, but not limited to, text, software, music, sound, photographs, video, graphics, or other material, may be protected by copyrights, trademarks, service marks, patents, or other proprietary rights and laws. Unless otherwise noted, Region 7 ESC maintains intellectual property rights to all content on the sites. You may not modify, copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit, or distribute in any way any material from these sites, including code and software. How do we protect visitor information?
We have implemented a range of security measures to ensure the safety of your personal information. Your data is stored behind secure networks and is accessible only to a select few with specialized access privileges, who are bound to maintain confidentiality. We utilize secure servers when you make purchases or access your personal data. Additionally, all credit card information is handled in accordance with Level 1 Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance, the highest security standard in the industry. We employ encryption methods to protect information, and credit card details are never stored on checkout screens or displayed to credit card management portal users.
 
Do we use "cookies"? 
Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enable the site's or service provider's systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. For instance, we use cookies to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart. Social Media Terms of Use Policy
Region 7 uses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. We encourage comments about topics that we post. Region 7 ESC's website and all social media accounts are maintained and moderated by the Region 7 ESC Communications Department. Our social media accounts provide information and photos about the service center, workshops, and programs and feature the successes of our school districts and charter schools. Posts about school and charter activities, programs, and successes are provided by those organizations and reposted on our page. Region 7 ESC social media content is updated frequently, and the page is used to relay important announcements.
 
Posted comments must comply with the following regulations:
  • Comments shall be limited to the topic of a specific posting made by the site administrator. If you have an unrelated question or comment, please send those to [email protected].
  • Comments are not allowed if they include profanity, threatening words, vulgar language, or inappropriate language or content.
  • Comments are not allowed if they include specific allegations, a personal attack, or accusations about an employee, student, parent, employee, school district or charter school, community member, or Region 7 ESC. Submit specific complaints regarding Region 7 ESC to Executive Director Todd Schneider [email protected] or by mail at 1909 North Longview St., Kilgore, Texas 75662.
  • Comments are not allowed if they include offensive language that targets specific groups of people, such as ethnic, religious, or racial groups.
  • Comments are not allowed if they include spam or advertisements.
  • Comments with links to other sites will be screened by the site administrator and allowed at the site administrator's discretion.
  • Photographs posted will be screened by the site administrator and removed if deemed inappropriate.
  • Comments promoting or attacking electoral campaigns or candidates are not allowed, nor are comments attacking elected officials.
  • Participants are responsible for what they post. Comments must not breach any law, confidentiality, or copyright.
  • Anyone posting comments contrary to this Terms of Use policy will have their comment removed.
  • Posts/comments deemed inappropriate according to this Terms of Use Policy, the person posting them will be blocked from making any future posts on the page.
  • Region 7 ESC reserves the right to update these Terms of Use at any time without advance notice.
  • On December 7, 2022, Governor Greg Abbott required https://gov.texas.gov/uploads/files/press/State_Agencies_Letter_1.pdf all state agencies to ban the video-sharing application TikTok from all state-owned and state-issued devices and networks over the Chinese Communist Party's ability to use the application for surveilling Texans. As of January 23, 2023, TikTok has been designated as a prohibited software/application https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgov.texas.gov%2Fuploads%2Ffiles%2Fpress%2FStatewide_Plan_for_Preventing_Use_of_Prohibited_Technology_in_State_Agencies_ Therefore, Region 7 retains the right to delete any comments or posts to Region 7 social media pages originating from TikTok.
