Brett holds a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University, a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Texas Woman’s University, and principal certification from the University of Texas Arlington.  With more than 30 years of experience in public education, Brett has served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including Speech-Language Pathologist, Lead Speech-Language Pathologist, Special Services Coordinator, Assistant Director of Special Services, and Director of Special Education in school districts of varying sizes.

Prior to his current role, Brett served as a Specialist with the Region 7 Education Service Center Special Education team, providing professional learning and technical assistance in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), meaningful access and inclusive practices, specially designed instruction, and data-driven instruction.

Brett currently serves as a Strategic Integration Liaison (SIL), supporting school systems in building leadership capacity and implementing effective, sustainable practices that improve outcomes for all students. In this role, he works alongside district leadership teams to strengthen Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) by aligning evidence-based prevention and intervention practices and promoting meaningful access to inclusive general education environments for students with disabilities. 

Using data analysis and systems coaching, Brett helps district leadership teams to identify needs, strengthen system-level processes, and support long-term organizational change. He also collaborates with the Texas Education Agency, Education Service Centers, and school system staff to develop and share resources, tools, and professional learning materials that support the design and implementation of effective system-level practices
