Our biweekly Employee Spotlight highlights team members whose passion and commitment help shape the future of our students. This week, we're excited to introduce three standout employees who exemplify what it means to lead with heart.

Susan is an Accounts Payable Technician in the Business Office and has been in education for 20 years.

"I started at Region 7, through Jean Simpson, out of necessity because I needed a job. Twenty years later, it has become so much more. My co-workers are like family, and I can honestly say I love my job. The people you work with, and for, make all the difference in the world!"

Geri is a Child Nutrition Specialist in State and Federal Programs and has been in education for 15 years.

"I came to Region 7 over 15 years ago. To be honest…..I needed a job with good days and hours because the job that I had did not allow me to be fully present for my kids and family. I truly treasure the work environment at the ESC for its professionalism, ethics and purpose. I am a fixer and helper at heart, and my best days are the ones where I see or hear relief and gratitude in the voice of a director who just needs a question answered, a road map of where to find something or a solution to an unusual situation. Our unspoken goal is to make sure that kids are nourished through food so that they feel loved, secure, and their minds and bodies are healthy, and I think that is a ground level foundation of education."

Christie Bell name divider

Christie is a Grants Coordinator in the Business Office and has been in education for 12 years.

"I have a passion for puzzles, numbers, and helping others, which is why accounting was the ideal career for me. After years in both public accounting and private industries, I wanted a career that offered a better work-life balance for my family. Working in education fulfills this need and gives me a sense of contributing to something greater than myself.”
