April is a Bilingual ESL Specialist in State and Federal Programs and has been in education for 23 years.

"I knew I wanted to be an educator back in PreK, when I spent my recess teaching unprompted Spanish lessons to my teacher! At 22, I began my journey as a self-contained 4th-grade teacher, and I’ve never looked back. Education transformed my life—it was my pathway out of poverty and helped me achieve dreams I never thought possible, all because someone believed in me and encouraged me to pursue higher education. Now, I’m committed to paying it forward, impacting the lives of children and their families every day."

Felicia is an Administrative Assistant in Special Education Services and has been in education for 12 years.

"My past work experiences were centered around customer service; Region 7 provides me with an opportunity to continue building customer relationships and serving others.  This played a large part in my decision to change careers after 20+ years in the banking industry. My time in the Center for Special Education has surpassed my initial expectations of working in the education arena.  Being part of a team environment with everyone working in unison to support customers and each other has been so fulfilling.  Every time I can assist district personnel with an issue or answer questions, it’s rewarding.  I love the work I do, and I feel blessed to be able to play a small part in the achievements this organization continually strives toward."

R7 Employee Spotlight Kim Moore Picture

Kim is a Health and Safety Specialist in Head Start and has been in education for 15 years.

"I have been employed as a Health and Safety Specialist with Head Start since 2010, but my work as an educator started well before that.  My journey has taken me down several roads from CPR instructor to Alzheimer’s Care trainer, to Critical Care Transport nurse instructor, to Emergency Nurse educator, and now back to CPR instructor as part of my duties serving the children and families of Head Start. Serving in this way allows me to pay forward the gift given to my family as two of my sons with special needs were served through the Head Start program.  They are now flourishing teens with college graduation aspirations.  I always knew that I wanted to be a nurse, but God knew that I had a gift for instruction and led me to a place where that gift could be best used for His purpose.”
