Amy is a Financial Services Accountant in the Information Management Systems (IMS) Department and has been in education for 18 years.

"I taught business classes, including accounting, at the high school level for 17 years. I am 10 years away from retirement, and I wanted a change from teaching. I am a CPA, and I wanted to put my skills as an accountant to use. I am still able to help schools, but now from the business side instead of teaching. I love accounting, and I am enjoying providing financial assistance to schools that need help."

Jill is a Specialist in the Special Education Department and has been in education for 25+ years.

"Both of my parents were educators and I grew up in a family full of teachers. Working with children has always come very naturally to me. I truly enjoy the wonder and excitement in the eyes of students when they are learning new things. I came to Region 7 so that I could help teachers make their ECSE classrooms as engaging, accessible and joyous as possible."

Kim is an Administrative Assistant in the Head Start Department and has been in education for 1 year.

"I grew up in Kilgore, and I’ve always heard that Region 7 is a great place to work. While I don't have a formal background in education, I spent five years volunteering at my daughter’s elementary school in Northern Michigan, which gave me firsthand experience supporting children and educators.

Understanding that investing in our youth creates a brighter future, I knew I wanted to do more than just administrative work in an engineering firm. As I prepared to move back to Kilgore, I came across an opportunity at Region 7 that immediately caught my attention. After carefully reviewing the job description for the Head Start department and thoroughly researching the program, I knew it was the right fit.

During my interview with Tracy, Sonya, and the Parent Liaison, I was deeply inspired by their genuine passion for the program. Their dedication to supporting families and providing children with a strong educational foundation resonated with me.

Being part of the Head Start program at Region 7 has been incredibly fulfilling. I’m proud to contribute to such an important mission and to work alongside amazing people who share the same commitment to making a difference every day."
