Rachel McGinnis, Laneville ISD, becomes a 2024 National Board Certified Teacher.

I'm Rachel McGinnis and I'm the resource teacher for all the reading the intervention teacher the dyslexia teacher and the ESL teacher for grades K to 12 here at the campus and I've been with Laneville for five years now we're honored to have her on campus she's an excellent teacher the medication that can show to complete the national board certification demonstrate excellence in always continuing your education which has been rubbed off on the students so it's a great honor to have her on campus and to put in the hard word to me Sharky's receive the individualized instruction in order to be successful academically challenged myself I have been teaching for about 10 years in the same kind of little gravy Pre-K kindergarten and first grade and so it allowed me an outlet to challenge myself and just to kind of get up at autopilot route and the state recognize it as a high Cheeseman and we're willing to pay teachers for it it teaches you to be more reflective about your teaching more intentional about your planning and then really diving into the data that you get from your assessment and it looking at their daily work and asking yourself okay how did I plan that what work but didn't work what can I do differently to really be a better facilitator and the child's education because it wasn't just the kids that needed to adjust to me it really put me in a more of a mindset of I need to do this differ way to be a better facilitator and how can I do that her impact on our students is phenomenal. They are eager to come to her class and excited to learn what they need to learn we have parents that also Express their gratitude towards the work that she does and they also expressed the growth that they see in their students for coming to her class I would just like to thank my family for being so supportive and especially for my husband who knew on Saturdays when I had a webinar to listen to or Workshop to go to that he was on duty and if it was a day that I was at home he knew to get the kids out of the house and take give me a quiet space to work and I want to thank my school for letting me have all of those professional development days that they cohort built into just get the process done and have those peers there to review all the work I don't think that I could have done the process without her since I've been cohort the Cold War it was a great facility hater and that it gave me all the information that I needed to complete all the steps that are given in the national board instructions it gave me a like-minded teachers to work with you know every month when we would come together for meetings and even now you know I had these teachers that I can call or email if I have questions just from day-to-day work but it really gave all that support that you need to get the process. I think anyone thinking about pursuing the national board certification should just go for it if you're thinking about it and you're already kind of leaning that way and it's so worth it's a process really kind of opens your mind a lot more and makes reflect on your wife and really it makes you a better teacher just throughout the process and you get to meet people and it's so worth it
