About Region 7 TPCP

The Region 7 Teacher Preparation and Certification Program (TPCP) is a state-approved alternative certification program that provides an opportunity for university graduates with a Bachelor's degree or higher who meet program acceptance criteria to obtain teacher certification. In this rigorous field-based program that integrates theory with practice; teacher interns make valuable contributions to public schools as they draw upon their diverse professional and personal past experiences.

The Region 7 Teacher Preparation and Certification Program is a performance-based program that provides intensive instruction prior to and during the teacher internship. The curriculum for the program is aligned with the State Board for Educator Certification.

Upon acceptance into the program, candidates complete initial coursework and field-experience to prepare them for the classroom teaching in their chosen field. As teachers of record, interns are salaried and receive benefits as first year teachers. Training is ongoing through the internship. After successful completion of all program and state requirements, the intern is recommended for certification to the State Board for Educator Certification.
