30-Hour Basics

Do you need your 30-Hour Basics of G/T Professional Development?

According to the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students, teachers are required to obtain 30 hours of G/T professional development before they provide services to identified G/T students. Professional development must include topics related to the nature and needs of gifted students, assessment and identification of gifted students, and curriculum of gifted students.

Region 7 offers two different types of training to meet the varied professional staff development needs of schools, face-to-face or online in the Canvas Learning Management System.

Face-to-Face

Workshops, hosted either at the Region 7 ESC or on-site in your district, provide teachers with research-based information in an integrative, collaborative environment.

Below is the list of the current 30 hours of G/T professional development. To register, click on the link provided. Unless otherwise indicated, the sessions are being held at Region 7.

* Sessions in blue are free to Region 7 Districts.
