The U.S. Department of Education announced Thursday that Stanton-Smith Elementary School in Whitehouse ISD has been awarded the 2017 National Blue Ribbon honor.
The school is one of only 26 awarded in the state. All schools awarded the 2017 honor were selected as exemplary high performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally monitored tests. Each school has an economically disadvantaged population of 25 percent or greater.
The Schools will be recognized at the Blue Ribbon Schools awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
