Do you need your 30-Hour Basics of G/T Professional Development?
According to the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students, teachers are required to obtain 30 hours of G/T professional development before they provide services to identified G/T students. Professional development must include topics related to the nature and needs of gifted students, assessment and identification of gifted students, and curriculum of gifted students.

Once teachers who provide instruction and services as defined by a school's G/T program have completed the initial 30 hours of G/T foundation training, they are required to receive a minimum of six hours annually (6-Hour Updates) of professional development in G/T education that is related to state teacher education standards (19 TAC §89.2(3) and TAC §233.1).

Region 7 offers many opportunities to help you complete your G/T foundational training including face-to-face and online  trainings . Visit our G/T workshops page for a list of the 30-hour basics sessions being offered. If you have questions about a session or need assistance with registration, send an e-mail to Lori Salinas , and we'll be happy to get you set up with what you need.
