This department provides administrative and program technical assistance and staff development to local education agencies in planning, implementing, and evaluating special education programs. Program support is provided in the following areas to assist in programming and compliance with federal and state regulations: individual education program development, assistive technology, evaluation, access to general curriculum, performance-based monitoring, adequate yearly progress, three-tier model, funding, legal frameworks, parent education/ coordination, early and secondary transition, multicultural and diverse learners, disability conditions, and child find.
