Teacher
Certification

| The
Teacher Certification program provides support to
school personnel in coordination with the State
Board for Educator Certification's (SBEC) certification/permit
rules and regulations. Answers to certification and
permit questions based on the rules and regulations
listed in the Texas Administrative Code, Title 19,
Part VII, Volume I, Chapter 230 and the Teacher Certification
Handbook, and other services are provided to area
school districts as listed below: |

Respond
to questions regarding all areas of teacher certification |

Communicate
to appropriate school personnel the certification/permit
options that are open to them given their specific
situation |

Upon
request, receive and examine permit applications for
accuracy and notify appropriate school personnel when
additional action is needed |

Process
permit applications upon request and notify superintendents
of permit approval or denial |

Provide
region-wide workshops on Teacher Certification Basics,
Permit Procedures, and changes in Teacher Certification |

certification personnel with a Procedures Manual which
contains a permit flowchart, permit checklists, permit
requirements, instructions for completing permit forms,
and examples of completed permit forms |

to questions regarding to teachers being "highly
qualified" as defined under the No
Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) |
