Board Member Training

| The
74th session of the Texas Legislature required "a
course of training" for all school board members.
The purpose of this requirement is to prepare board
members and the superintendent to work as a leadership
team to improve the academic performance of all
district students. Region VII Education Service
Center is committed to providing programs for all
districts to help achieve this goal.
SBT
Credit
Region VII is a state-approved sponsor and will
issue credit for training facilitated through the
service center. Certificates are printed quarterly
and sent to the district.
The
following will be required for those experienced
board members who have had the Orientation to the
Texas Education Code. The required hours for the
2003-2004 school year are:

| The
following will be required for new board members as
they serve in their first year on the board of trustees: |

On-Site
Training
Region VII provides training in clusters throughout
the region to meet the requirements in Senate Bill
1 concerning Orientation to the Texas Education Code
and Team Building. Other training is available upon
request. |
