School Health

The Texas School Health Network is a collaborative effort of the Texas Department of Health, the Texas Cancer Council, and the Regional Education Service Centers (ESCs). The School Health Network’s mission is to serve as the coordinating point and collaborative catalyst to promote healthy school environments and healthy behaviors of all students and personnel.

Through this program, each of the 20 ESC’s in Texas is staffed with a school health specialist who provides in-service training, workshops, and technical assistance to school districts. Your Regional School Health Specialist can provide you and your school district with assistance or information on school health topics such as:

>> School Health Advisory Councils (SHACs)
>> HIV/AIDS Awareness
>> Vision/Hearing/Spinal Screening Training
>> Universal precautions for Disease Prevention
>> Networking Opportunities
