The
Migrant Education Program assists districts in establishing
and improving programs and projects designed to
meet the special educational needs of children of
migratory agricultural workers. All districts are
challenged annually to identify and recruit all
migratory children. Identification and recruitment
are major focus of the program. Project districts
are given assistance in planning and implementing
quality training programs for migrant personel in
the "Seven Areas of Focus" specified in
law. Technical assistance, resource information
and staff development are provided to both project
and non-project districts. Detailed data on each
student is entered into the New Generation System
traking program helping students transition from
one location to another.
