Lunch Honoring Van Head Start Parent

A lunch was held on May 3, 2013, honoring Amanda for receiving her GED.
"We are so proud of her and thankful for all of the encouragement that Berta gives our Head Start parents", says Principal,
Jonnie Smith. Principal Smith says that they will continue to encourage and support their parents in continuing their own
education in hopes that they will instill this desire in their own children

DID YOU KNOW?

• Research has proven that greater parent involvement inside and outside of the classroom is linked to greater gains in children’s cognitive, language, and socio-emotional growth? Parents are welcome in Head Start classrooms and are encouraged to participate whenever possible. By welcoming parents during all program hours, Head Start demonstrates respect for them as the primary educators of their children. Call Head Start Parent Involvement Coordinator, Marilyn Williams at 903-988-7633 or mwilliams@esc7.net for more information.

• Head Start Mental Health staff is available to provide individual interventions for behavior referrals and general classroom management concerns? For more information contact Head Start Mental Health Coordinator, Karen Hurst at khurst@esc7.net
or 903-988-7615.

• The key to an active family is finding fun things to do in every season? Aim for a goal of 30 minutes for adults, 60 minutes for kids, of moderate activity daily – no matter the weather!
